that Senior Members would be more involved in posting on this website. It makes a lot of difference if core members who have a closer perspective of the truth could respond to some questions on these threads. No response, in my opinion only helps in making the website dead and promotes unproductive arguments and squabbles here.

Labor Substition was a devil which has created most of this problem as I can see there are hardly 15-20% original beneficiaries for these 2002-2003 Labors.
Employers made Labor Sub a Devil by misusing it. It has been provided to employers as a valid advantage from employer perspective.
Infact GC has become a retention perk for the employer and from the employer perspective all they need is unlimited H-1B permits. All this added to the fuel that GC has become a perk to the employee because they suck up 6 years of H-1B servitude and not a Employer benefit anymore.
I think the Govt and USCIS start to think now that
H-1B is employer benefit
GC is employee benefit
and they are slowly moving to make changes in the current law.

My Dear Macaca... Do the following to add a signature to ur posts... Login go to user profile... on the left hand side under Settings & options.. Edit ur signature... Type ur footnote and this will appear in all ur posts. Let me know if this is not what u r looking for.

You are already out of status as H1 accounts for continuous employment along with regular pay. H1 visa, job and pay go hand in hand. Any one component missing means you are out of status.
There is no grace period. As the earlier member said, it is a gray area without any specific guidelines. I have seen people stay out of job (status) for 4 months and have used portability or consulate stamp upon getting a new job. It all depends on the IO.
BTW, did you ever realize how unethical it is to use a consultant for acquiring a H1 visa without actually having a fulltime job? For last 7 years I am on H1 myself and have played by rules� I hate people who false represent the facts for immigration benefits.
Because of people like you genuine candidates who have legitimate jobs are left out as you guys get lucky in the lottery even though you don�t have a regular fulltime job. My wife was forced to stay at home for almost 3 years because of people like you.. FYI she had a job offer (from a F500 Inc.) but people like you got lucky when it came to H1 lottery. Not just that but people like you give a bad name to legal immigrant community.

My consultant told me that he has a job for me but because for this market companies have freesed there recruitments. So don't get pissed and good luck for ur wiefe's visa this year.

I guess USCIS has finally came up with the correct receipting procedure. As projected, every July-August 17 filers should be in the system by the end of the month.

Though i can't do it, as i am in India after my Visa Denial, some group of people should adopt Gandhiri priniciples and do a fast unto death principile before the White House while others should support all the people who are fasting.
Otherwise, our talks will never get noticed.
India got 52Billion $ in Remittances . Most of them from US. No GC means more remittances.
Think collectively and do something big.
