Just so that we are clear, please note that signing online petitions doesn't mean anything if there is no matching advocacy. Timing of the activity is also very important. In the end, advocacy and grassroots effort must compliment each other at the same time. The website you are referring is an advertisement website. Its not a resource for serious advocacy effort.
The Congress is right now focused on DREAM Act. If we just say "Erase Green card backlog", it will mean nothing. But there is a chance if we send specific targeted message asking to include specific provisions in the bill that appear to be moving (i.e. DREAM Act in this case), and IV is complimenting this message with the advocacy on the ground.
Just sending random email from some online advertisement for profit website does not mean anything. We think that some of these websites are just collecting your Email and Home Address, which they could sell for making profit.

My I-485 was received by NSC, on Jun 25th. Called USCIS today, they said information is not in system. Lawyer is also not repsonding, if checks are cleared. My previously approved I-140 from TSC has a LUD of 08/05/07.

Chandu - I understand where you come from with your vast experience here. Like i mentioned i am totally new to this site and i am not JUST opening a thread. WE are going to do it. If making the 70k talk is joining the chapter, so be it. Nothing stops us.

I did not take till now. I thought of waiting for at least a week more as the content in the notice I received says that ' If I don't receive any other notice regarding Biometrics or Card within 90 days I need to call them'.

Has the issue of waiting times before being eligible to apply for citizenship been raised at all by Immigration Voice?? Currently one needs to wait for 5 years after being granted permanent status to be eligible to apply for citizenship. Now, considering the current backlog and the fact that Congress has mandated processing times to be much less than what we are experiencing, has the issue of getting credit for the lost backlog years in the citizenship process been raised? As I explained it to a friend the other day: This is becoming a retirement program - over 5 years at labor cert + another 4 at USCIS + 5 years waiting period + 3 years citizenship process = 0ver 17 years before we can cast a vote in this nation to which we contribute economically, intellectually, and socially. Not to forget that we are the ones doing things by the book and following the law on immigration.

It means they have used 90K Visa out of 140-150K ..it means 50K visa left for next 5 month..not sure how much visa dates wlll be moved.
EB2 went to U and then because of EB1 they are available. so it could be all EB3 numbers left. In that case we can see considerable movement in EB3. If EB3 ROW becomes current or close to current next visa bulliten there might be some movement for India and china in coming months or atleast IN FY 2009.

Current Status: My case was approved and card production ordered on August 14, 2008 (got the email from CRIS) and still waiting for my spouse's EAD approval.

Nma check is history now. After filed I-485, and 180 days passed, name check is not a factor for GC. If your NC is pending, still they issue you a GC.

My questions are:
I am in H1B status and plan to keep it. I need to go for Landing in Canada (PR approved). I have pending I-485 with approved AP, and EAD(not using).
1. My passport with old H1B visa is expired. The H1B visa is also expired in may 2007. I have new valid passport(India) with Canada Immigrant Visa and approved I-797 extension for H1B till 2010. Can I safely use automatic visa revalidation to come back after landing considering expired visa in expired passport?
If I decide to go for Stamping:
2. If stamping gets denied or delayed, can I come back in with AP?
3. I may have to file EAD renewal application before I leave. Is it safe to travel outside US after filing for EAD renewal or will the application be considered abandoned. I plan on using H1B stamp or automatic revalidation to come back.
My wife is H4-> F1-> now pending AOS because using EAD(from I-485 pending not OPT).
She will accompany me to canada with pending EAD renewal application:
1. Will her EAD application be abandoned or is there no risk? She will be using AP to come back.
2. Does she need to carry employment verification letter etc. I know for OPT EAD they recommend not to travel while EAD application is pending or carry an offer of employment or verification letter to help re-enter.

I was plannig to go to Canada to take care of the landing formalities, but happened to visit this website, http://www.notcanada.com.
The details provided in the site is really scary. Though we keep Canadian PR as back up, after seeing this, I am wondering do I really need to go for landing.

Canada has been lacking of much opportunity and your friends may not open hearted to welcome you there and create opportunity. Perhaps they themselves feel at risk - or really lack of opportunity. I have been Canada for execution of couple of projects in early nineties several times.
It seems that it is no longer true. My son has couple of friends there and now his friends are proactively discussing about opportunities.
So I feel that for job scenarios will be very much different for 15 years experienced persons, 10 years experienced persons, 5 years experienced persons and recently graduated persons.
It may be better for young graduates. If you have 15+ years experience better to explore more.
This is based on personal experiences.

I got finger print notice on 6-16-07.
I never got receipt notice and I could not read the number in back of my check image. My attorney even did not get any receipt notice either:confused:
The finger print is scheduled for July 7th. I sent all app. to NCS on the June first and they transferred to TCS. PD of Sep 2003 and I-140 was approved 2005. I also apply for travel doc. and work permit but no receipt so far.:rolleyes:

There is no "approval notice" as such but a "Welcome Notice" which basically is a I-797 notice of action of the type: Welcome Notice. You will get this in one envelope per applicant.
You will get another envelope per applicant generally a few days later (1 week or so after the CPO e-mail) that has the GC in it attached to the exact same mailer that a EAD comes in; a pamphlet for new residents and a GC card cover (kind of cool!)

After 6-7 months tell the employer that i'm going India for ever due to personal reasons - you know its not feasible for me to pay.
They can't cancel 140 after 6 months from approval ( or can they?) , they can't substitute the labor because its already used and July 17th has passed.
Then I actually go back to India , spend some time , come back silently because i have a EAD and AP.

No one can force you to work for them. If there is no breakage clause, then the agreement will not stand in court. Issue is when there is a breakage clause. If there is a breakage clause, you may either have to fight it or suck it up and pay the amount (as long as it is a basis for the amount - just saying "pay $10K if you leave the job" will not stand in court either).
